My downtown Austin engagement photo session with these two went beautifully. Vy and Jon wanted a more urban look and feel, so we started our shoot at Austin Central Library. The session featured the Zilker Hike and Bike Trail that circles Town Lake, Auditorium Shores, and a gorgeous sunset in front of Austin’s beautiful skyline to end the day.
When you grow up in the church, it’s crazy to think about how many others grow up alongside you. I don’t know that I can even pinpoint when Vy and I specifically met one another. At some level, it seriously feels as if we’ve always known each other! The memories tend to blend together when you see someone every weekend for years – not to mention the parties you have together in college. Vy has always been a big supporter of my photography. In fact, she was one of my first paid clients when I photographed her senior photos many years ago!
As I have said time and time again, my posts focus on the relationship I have with my clients because it’s that connection that I believe makes our sessions all the more special. I love that our friendship helps my clients overcome that initial discomfort everyone inevitably feels in front of the camera. The fact that I get to celebrate a special moment in their lives makes it all the more heartwarming. So when Vy asked that I photograph her engagement session with Jon, I jumped at the occasion!
If your first thought was that these two are extremely photogenic, then you’re absolutely correct. Some couples just jump in front of the camera and know what they’re doing. It only took few directional guidance from me before they were naturals at determining what pose to strike next. We had a ton of fun and even more laughs, which I think comes across in how at ease they look. What do you think?
