One of the biggest lessons that 2020 has shown me is that life must go on, even if the world is stuck in the middle of a global pandemic. Of course, I can’t speak for myself, given the fact that I have largely remained cooped up and practicing social distancing as best as I can. I’ll be the first to admit that there have been a slip up here and there, but out of abundance of caution, I decided to put my photography work on hold. My busy springtime schedule was reduced to twiddling my thumbs. So when Janette reached out to me because she needed a maternity photographer, I was more than happy to oblige.
Life must go on.
Luckily, Texas was in its summer phase of reopening. Which leads me back to my earlier point about “life must go on”. After months of doom and gloom – and rightfully so – it was hard to believe that there was still so much good that could happen in the world. It was so pleasant to catch up with Janette about her pregnancy woes and excitement. I like to call that one “life’s actual normal” compared to the “new normal” we’ve been hearing so much about. Janette and I have known one another since high school, so I was beyond elated to have been able to celebrate one of her biggest life moments. Of course, it was good to meet Kevin, too! I’ve said this before, and I will say this again – there is just something so special about celebrating a big milestone with someone you’ve known for so long. We definitely had good timing, because baby Zendaya is due any day now!
St. Edward’s park is gorgeous.
My first time at St. Edward’s Park was one for the books. Let me tell you, Janette was such a trooper. I had a few scares where I thought I was surely leading my friend to her doom. For example, we climbed down a little hill side to take photos in the water. Sure enough, she scaled that hill like it was no problemo. While it was my first time at this location, you can bet that it won’t be my last. We didn’t explore nearly enough of the park for me to uncover all of its photographic gems, so I can’t wait to venture back with a future client.
