Have you ever made friends and met people in the strangest circumstances? I feel like I do that all the time. I don’t like awkward moments, so I try my best to overcome that by talking and getting to know people that I’m around. Of course, this may result in more awkward moments… but I digress. They’re usually fun.
In this case, Marie and I met in the back of a shared Lyft on my birthday in June. I love this story because it’s a case of how you can make the best of any circumstance. We were both riding back from a night on 6th street and to make conversation, we of course talked about how I was a UT grad and she was a current student. I immediately volunteered to photograph her senior photos when I found she was in her last year and we exchanged Instagram handles.
I never expected to hear from her – heck, I even forgot about this night after the fact. I’m used to people following me on Instagram to keep their options open so I figured that was what happened. Imagine my surprise when she reached out six months later to book a senior session! It all worked out in the end and we got some amazing photos out of it. Thank you, Texas, for the beautiful fall colors even in December.
